Toilet Talk
¡feliz día de acción de gracias! Im so thankful for all of you in my life!!!
I know everyone was just suuuuuper concerened and sad i didnt send an email yesterday but dont even worry about it its only because my pday is today this week. And next week itll be on monday. (Dont ask me why i dont make the rules)
ok bike saga update because IT NEVER ENDS. so back to where we left off, bagleys bike tire had gone flat a total of 4 times in 7 days. Elder Tate finally just bought a new bike tire (dont worry we bought him lots of food to compensate and save his sanity) and it was finally fixed! Next day we're on cloud 9! Nothing can stop us now! The world is our oyster! New tire who dis! We're leaving the apartment and make it less than a mile down the street when the elders honk as theyre passing us in their car. We wave, we go up the sidewalk and BOTH MY TIRES POP!!!! I dont even know how. So the Elders had to turn around and save us yet again. And now i have a bike that has one completely broken brake and the other brake...its a 50/50 shot each time whether it will work
Bryan was baptized on Saturday!! It was the perfect night! And we did a spontaneous musical number. And i mean mega spontaneous. Mid program Pacheco walks to the front and says "now the hermanas are going to sing 'Teach me to walk in the light'" and we just got up and did it
After the baptism we came home to a toilet in our apartment. Just a hello kitty toilet in the middle of the room. Elders
The other Hermanas are teaching these two brothers alejandro and Jhoań, and they invited us over for jhoań's birthday and it was SO fun. All of their cousins and uncles and brothers and aunts and neighbors and more cousins were there! They taught us how to "actually dance" and we had the most bomb tacos. Man i love these people
We had a really good district discush about charity! Our invitation was anytime you thought or started to say something negative about another, you have to say or think 3 compliments about them. Ive had to give a lot of compliments to inanimate objects like our toaster
Thoughts
Ok i hope when i share these experiences and feelings, it doesnt seems like im complaining or ungrateful for the mission because im not! I just feel like its important to keep it real and talk about the hard things too. Cause thats just life. Ive felt some of my highest highs out here but then ive also had low moments too. But im gonna keep pushing through and keep looking for the ways Gods blessing me!
But ngl the past couple weeks have been pretty hard. Just with things that are out of my control and sometimes i let other peoples actions influence the way I'm feeling. I was really frustrated with a lot of things. It just all felt like it was piling up.
So i went back and reread some notes in my journal and phone and saw a message i had saved from someone in the MTC. It said
"you will get out there and you will feel inadequate at times and it will not be easy in the slightest. but remember everyday that the Lord chooses His strongest warriors to fight the hardest battles. this is His work and His glory! do not treat salvation lightly. everyday give it your all. give it 100%. if your ALL that day is only 50%, then give ALL of that 50%. if your ALL is 20%, then give 100% of it.
The Lord is so proud of you and he will continue to give you many experiences to help you grow. there isn’t growth in the comfort zone but the Lord will help you each step of the way. Go out there with the biggest smile on your face and remember to be grateful. look for the miracles everyday and write them down. The Savior suffered for all of mankind, go tell the world that His gospel has been restored!
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
This week ive learned
☆ just take it a day at a time. And sometimes break it down smaller than that. Do the basics
☆If they still feel too hard, break them down more. Remind yourself: All I have to do right now is ______.
☆Smile and be willing to laugh at yourself!
☆do 1 thing a day that brings you joy. Pure joy (a starbucks birthday cake pop is always worth a try)
☆dont lose hope. Even if its just a teeny tiny bit of hope
1 Samuel 34-37
"34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee."
God helped David defeat the bear and the lion before, and David had faith that God would help him defeat Goliath too.
This too is gonna pass. God has been with you through your previous trials, and He'll get you through this one too. And someday you'll look back and laugh for doubting your resilience.
