4 Hour Drive To The Temple
Tanikun! Ava'a? Yu'u kuii ñe misionera ñe ve'e ñu'u ra Jesucristo! Ndioxi kunira yo'o! Sorry just practicing my mixteco
This'll probably be the most random filled email you'll read but oh well have fun
This week was pretty good pretty good!
- We had an amazing lesson with our friends hector and jose! We couldn't get inside the church building so we just sat on the steps outside and the spirit was SO STRONG!!! they were filled with wonder and had so many good questions!
- Our friend Paula accepted a baptism date! We weren't planning to extend one but the espíritu santo had other plans!
- We teach this pretty old lady whos a recent convert of about 2 years once a week and we thought we were gonna teach a quick easy post baptism lesson about WoW, tithing, fast offerings but as soon as we started talking about WoW she informed us she hadn't been living it. But she was like genuinely really surprised some things were apart of the WoW that she was doing so we don't know if she just never got taught it or if she just reeeeally forgot? It's kind of a big things to forget tho...? But she said she would try to start living it so
- We knocked on a door and this is how the conversation went
Us: hola! Glory vive aquí?
(Hi! Does Glory live here?)
Her: no, ella no vive aquí
(no, she doesn't live here)
Us: ok pues somos misioneras...
(well we're missionaries *gives whole missionary line and stuff*)
hay otro dia podemos pasar y compartir un mensaje consigo?
(Is there another day we could come by and share a message with you?)
Her: umm....uh...sí esta bien.
(Umm...uh...yes that's fine)
Us: ok! Cómo se llama usted?
(Ok! Whats your name?)
Her: glory
Us: .....
- WE WENT TO THE TEMPLEEEEEE!!! Drove an hour to Santa maria and then had a 4 hour bus ride to the LA temple and it was aaaaamazing!!! I took for granted having the temple like 8 minutes away from my house! I felt so much peace and pure happiness and joy it felt like itd burst out of my heart! If you're able, go to the temple for me!!!
- My comp is a Sister Training Leader so she and hna demordaunt had a Mission Leadership meeting which meant hna silva and i got to be comps for the day again!! She is so fun and such a good teacher and we ran into a crazy man covered in dirt and blood again! (This is my 3rd run in with him and he's been bloody every time) but he lives right next to all our friends so
- General Conference was SO AMAZING!! As a missionary its like Christmas! I already can't wait till they come out on gospel library and i can reread them! Hermana barker and i made a megabed and fort and ate cinnamon rolls.
For the Sunday morning session hermana barker took allergy meds not knowing if they would make her drowsy or not. Spoiler alert they were drowsy and she was fighting demons during conference. But on the brightside i made some epic paper airplanes so i call that a win.
Also shoutout to my cousin gracie for getting her mission call to Tijuana Mexico!!!! So so happy for her! Also shout out to justin just cause hes in the pictures and i miss him
anyways i love you all so much and miss you like crazy!! hope everyone has the most fantastic week of your lives!
I loved this talk "Your Divine Nature and Eternal Destiny" by Elder Renlund and this quote about God's love
"First, you are a beloved daughter. Nothing you do—or do not do—can change that. God loves you because you are His spirit daughter. Sometimes we may not feel His love, but it is always there. God’s love is perfect. Our ability to sense that love is not.
The Spirit plays a pivotal role in communicating God’s love to us. Yet the influence of the Holy Ghost can be obscured “by strong emotions, such as anger, hate, … [or] fear, … like trying to savor the delicate flavor of a grape while eating a jalapeño pepper. … [One flavor] completely overpowers the other.” So too, behaviors that distance us from the Holy Ghost, including sin, make it difficult for us to perceive God’s love for us.
Similarly, our sense of God’s love may be blunted by challenging circumstances and physical or mental illness, among other things. In all these cases, the counsel of trusted leaders or professionals can often be beneficial. We can also try to improve our receptivity to God’s love by asking ourselves, “Is my love for God constant, or do I love Him when I have good days but not so much when I have bad days?”
